Daniel Coyle achieved a remarkable feat at the CSI 3* in Lake Placid, New York. The Irish rider swept the top two spots in the 1.50m class held on Saturday afternoon, demonstrating exceptional skill on the course.
Of the 43 horse and rider combinations entered, only 14 completed a clear first round, but the rider outperformed his competitors. In the jump-off, Coyle set the fastest time of 35.77 seconds aboard Ariso, a South Belgian Warmblood gelding who had recently won the 4* Grand Prix of North Salem. No competitor was able to beat him.
The Irishman then sought to improve his time with For Gold, but the second horse was slightly slower: 35.99. A tiny difference that changed nothing since the two best performances remained his.
American Nicholas Dello Joio completed the podium in third place with Elvis de l'Othain. This victory for Coyle confirms the Irish team's excellent form on the North American circuit this weekend.
