Excellent news for Gerrit Nieberg: Ping Pong van de Lentamel is gradually returning to competition. The German jockey confirms that his piebald gelding is regaining his form and should be back on the international racetrack within a few weeks.
This comeback is perfectly timed. The pair delivered remarkable performances in 2025, notably winning two 4* Grand Prix events in Vejer de la Frontera and the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Riesenbeck. Ping Pong also distinguished himself in Aachen with a ninth-place finish in the prestigious Grand Prix, before posting a double clear round in Leipzig.
"Ping Pong is back in shape. He's jumping at home and I hope to be able to enter him in some small competitions in a few weeks," Nieberg rejoices.
The rider is already setting ambitious goals. With Ping Pong and Blues d'Aveline, whom he has also recently reunited with, Nieberg envisions a new dynamic. "If Ping Pong returns to his best form alongside Blues, it will be fantastic. I'm really looking forward to it," he concludes.
