Disappearance of Propriano de l’Ébat

Par Anastasia ·

Haras des Châteaux announces the death of this Selle Français stallion, a major figure in international eventing for more than a decade.

The world of eventing has lost one of its great figures. Propriano de l'Ébat, a Selle Français stallion born in 2003, has passed away. Haras des Châteaux paid tribute to this long-time partner: "You were our driving force. You will forever remain in our thoughts and hearts."

Ridden by Luc Château between 2009 and 2021, the chestnut gelding made his mark on the international scene. With an ICC of 156, he consistently placed in CCI 3* events, notably at the Arville and Jardy CCIs where he finished second. Competing for France, the pair won the Nations Cups at the Tattersalls (Ireland, 2017) and Vairano (Italy, 2018) CCIO 3* events, before triumphing in the Saumur Indoor Cross Country in January 2020.

Beyond his sporting career, Propriano de l'Ébat leaves a major legacy to breeding. His sons continue to shine in eventing: Cocorico de l'Ébat, a finalist in the Classic Cycle, and Bastia de l'Ébat, both performing up to CCI 4*-L level, perpetuate the genetic excellence of the sire.
