Peter Thomsen, coach of the German eventing team, remains hospitalized following a fall from a horse on June 14. Although his condition is gradually improving, his absence is forcing the German federation to reorganize its technical staff for major competitions.
The German staff has entrusted the temporary leadership to Rodolphe Scherer, a French coach specializing in cross-country. This transition comes at a crucial time: the final selection stages and the formation of the team for the World Championships in Aachen, scheduled for August, require continuity in performance.
To ensure a smooth transition, Scherer will be able to rely on a range of specialists: Anne-Kathrin Pohlmeier for dressage, Lara Weber for show jumping, and Andreas Dibowski for cross-country and the U25 riders. Dr. Annette Wyrwoll, team manager, will also provide overall coordination, as she did at the German Championships in Luhmühlen.
This arrangement remains provisional and will evolve depending on the coach's health. The federation intends to maintain the stability of its national team despite this disruption.
