Cosacara Z is leaving Mathieu Billot's stables for good. The nine-year-old mare, daughter of Cornet Obolensky, has been sold to a young American rider trained by Jessica Mendoza, as confirmed by the French rider.
For two and a half years, the pair made their mark on the show jumping circuit with their impressive performances. Together, they secured a resounding victory in the CSI 4* Grand Prix of Rouen last November, when the horse was only eight years old. More recently, in March, Cosacara Z triumphed in a 1.50m class at the Saut Hermès in the Grand Palais in Paris.
Partners since February 2023, Billot and his mount had progressed rapidly: after modest beginnings in young horse classes, they quickly mastered the 1.50m and 1.55m jumps. The Montchevreuil stable, a 50% co-owner, expressed its emotion via social media: "Cosacara has given us unforgettable moments. We wish you the most wonderful chapter on the other side of the Atlantic."
The mare will continue her competitive career in North America, where she is expected to continue her rise.
